Summer Movies
The Star of India is the world’s oldest active ship. The full-rigged iron windjammer began life in the shipyard on the Isle of Man in 1863 and has circumnavigated the globe 21 times. If you’ve been to San Diego, you know it’s now part of the San Diego Maritime Museum and is parked directly across from the County Administration building on Harbor Drive.

Every summer the ship is home to the ‘Movies Before the Mast‘ series. The movies are projected on the main sail and can be seen from both the bow and the stern. Friday night is date night, so they have a bar set up. Saturday night is family night – no bar. It’s great fun watching a movie on the water. It does get chilly, though. This year the first film, on July 10th, will be “The Perfect Storm.”

So we cheated and we lied
And we tested
And we never failed to fail
It was the easiest thing to do
