L.A. Street Art

One Man’s Art is Another Man’s Graffiti
The Mona Lisa artwork on the roll-up door is at Traction Ave. and Rose St. Not quite as good as Marcel Duchamp’s version, but still fun. Was the Mona Lisa really da Vinci’s self-portrait?

Posters depicting President Obama as the Joker with the caption “socialism” have caused quite a stir after popping up all around the streets of Los Angeles over the weekend.

The poster, which shows President Obama with dark eyeshadow, green hair, red lipstick and white face paint, is a reference to Heath Ledger’s Joker character in 2008’s Batman film “The Dark Knight.”

Though there are few details on who has been putting up the posters and why, the image has already sparked a fair deal of controversy.

This isn’t the first time the Joker’s image has been appropriated for a political message. In 2008, Vanity Fair ran a similar image of President Bush sporting the Joker facade.
