Carole King was born in 1942. She wrote many of the songs that became part of our lives from the time we were teenagers. One of my favorites is her 1971 hit, Natural Woman. The song is from her mega-hit album, Tapestry. We all remember Aretha’s version, but it’s always a treat to hear a singer-songwriter perform their own work.
The first hit King co-wrote with her first husband, Gerry Gofin, was Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. It was recorded by the Shirelles in 1960. The rest, as they say, is history.
On March 27 Carole and James Taylor will kick off their “Troubadour Reunion” world tour in Melbourne, Australia. They’ll be performing at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, May 14th.
This video from 2007 shows Carole at 65, obviously still loving what she does best. Enjoy:
