From Mean to Lean
This a a photo of Obama’s car when he was a Senator – it’s a 2005 Chrysler 300 C, V8 hemi. Nice.
Obama drove this sweet ride from July 2004 through the summer of 2007. He put over 19,000 miles on it before trading it for a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid.
Hey, when you plan to run for President and plan to push a huge cap and trade tax you have to show the little people that you are serious about green technology.
Of course, now that he is the President, Obama doesn’t have to drive at all – he has a tank (literally) that looks like a limo as well as a Gatling gun-equipped Suburban that follows the presidentail limo.
Anyway, now that the Federal Government and the U.A.W. own GM, Obama wants us all to drive Chevy Volts. Thank goodness the union only owns 17.5% or GM. They owned 55% of Chrysler and the company is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. How reassuring.
The Volt is a 4 passenger sedan powered by an electric motor and a battery pack with a 40-mile per charge range. 40 miles?
Actually, when the battery charge is 70 percent depleted – around 28 miles, a small internal combustion engine that requires premium gasoline kicks in.The batteries will recharge in about 3 hours if you have a 240 volt outlet. If you only have a 120 volt outlet it will take 6-7 hours. All that for $44,600.
Are you kidding me?
I’ll wait for the Tesla Model S. The luxury electric sedan seats 7 and will cost $50,000. It has a 300 miles per charge range. That’s 7.5 times more than the Volt. It plugs into nearly any outlet anywhere in the world and only takes 45 minutes to charge.
Entrepreneurs vs government bureaucrats. ‘Nuff said.
Time for some driving music. Enjoy Paul McCartney – Drive My Car:
