Glastonbury 2011Summer Concerts

Summer Concerts
England’s version of Woodstock is held, almost every year, in the small town of Glastonbury in southwest England. The town is located in Somerset County, which is known for its award winning wines.

For five days, last week, the quiet, serene setting was turned into a wild, music-filled, totally exciting venue that has become a magnet for music lovers from all over the world.

Tickets to this year’s show sold out within 4 hours. One reason for the rush to buy tickets was the appearance of headliner, Beyoncé, who along with her husband Jay Z are today’s powerhouse couple of the music business.

Not to forget the old rockers, U-2, Paul Simon, B.B. King, Kool and the Gang, Duane Eddy and dozens more, were cheered on by young and old alike.

Like previous years, the weather went from warm sunshine to torrential rain – read: mud. But that didn’t stop the rockers and their fans from enjoying some of the best musical acts in the world.

Aside from a few protests against Bono for tax avoidance, a great time was had by all.
