Chicago 2012

Peace Love and Protests
On April 23, the 12th World Summit for Nobel Peace Laureates was held in downtown Chicago with an impressive list of attendees such as Lech Walsa, Mikhail Gorbachev, JImmy Carter and William deKlerk.

But wait, why wasn’t Barack there? He has a peace prize. Maybe it’s because of those nasty kill orders or possibly all the U.S. troops sent to Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, etc. Ya’ think?

Whatever reason the President wasn’t at the Peace Prize summit, it didn’t stop the U.S. military from conducting urban warfare drills over downtown Chicago with Blackhawk helicopters swooping through the concrete canyons of the city. The military was getting ready for the North American Treaty Organization get-together on May 20th.

In preparation for the NATO Summit to be held in the windy city this Monday, a copy of a Red Cross e-mail sent to volunteers in the Milwaukee area was obtained by CBS 2 in Chicago. According to email:

the NATO summit “may create unrest or another national security incident. The American Red Cross in southeastern Wisconsin has been asked to place a number of shelters on standby in the event of evacuation of Chicago.”

If you have to go downtown, don’t forget to “dress like a protester”.
