Lloyds of London has just insured the hair of Pittsburgh Steeler’s safety, Troy Polamalu, for $1 million.

As Head & Shoulders pitchman, the football player is the first person ever to have their hair insured. In previous seasons, Polamalu has been tackled by the hair. Ouch!

The 29-year-old Super Bowl champ, whose hair extends several inches below his helmet and shoulders, has reportedly not gotten a trim for at least a decade.

During football season Troy and his family reside in Pittsburgh and return to San Diego during the off season. He should be easy to spot, don’t you think?

The Beehive is Back
Back in the 60’s big hair was hot. From Jackie-O to Bridget Bardot, from housewives to teachers, women everywhere were wearing their hair teased and piled up on top of their heads.

It all began in 1958 when an Elmhurst, Illinois hairdresser entered a hairstyling contest for a magazine. The rest, as they say, is history.
